Mylar sails
I skippered Imperial with the demonstration Mylar mainsail for the 2011/12 Nationals. I thought there were some pretty good points about it.It certainly improved my view through the sail, very useful in crowded conditions and when coming onto the congested beach. Foredeck hand would call an obstacle and I could see wha!t she was meaning straight away and take required action much more quickly. The loose foot took some getting used to but saved our bacon when we had a nasty spinnaker moment! Good 21st Century sailing

Re: Mylar sails
Quite a few WA boats tried out the test set since Esperance and most had positive feedback. Unfortunately this now looks on the back burner from NEC Vote. Was certainly a good look and made 420 sailors jealous!

Re: Mylar sails
The Mylar sails are now at Chelsea Yacht Club and will be put through their paces there for a while. When they are posted, check out the photos!

Re: Mylar sails
The mylar sail thing has come up many times in the history of 125s, same as full length battens. Is this really coming up again?

Re: Mylar sails
Hi "old spice"
There was a motion put up at the last NEC re Mylar sails which was defeated. For all intents and purposes it's at a full stop now. Contact your local association for more information on where this now sits and their position.
